Yes, in whatever notation comes naturally: 5'9", 5' 9", 5ft9in, 5 feet 9 inches, or just 9" on its own. The tool reads it, tells you what it understood, and switches the source unit to Feet so nothing contradicts itself. The Feet result comes back compound as well, since "5 ft 9 in" is what you want when the measurement is a person or a doorway.
